Coronavirus (COVID-19) Alert

The following Chest Centers are open:

  • Fort Greene Chest Center is open Monday to Friday from 9 AM to 5 PM
  • Corona Chest Center is open Monday to Wednesday from 9 AM to 5 PM
  • Morrisania Chest Center is open Thursday and Friday from 9 AM to 5 PM

Due to COVID-19, the Washington Heights Chest Center remains closed at this time.

Please make an appointment before visiting a chest center by calling (844) 713-0560.

Eligible patients can get tuberculosis (TB) screening and treatment at clinics, Chest Centers, and hospitals. You must make an appointment.

Since January 1, 2015, New York City Health Department clinics have adopted new health insurance and billing practices in order to comply with State law and Medicaid rules:

  • Chest center staff will ask for your health insurance information.
  • The Health Department will not collect any payments or copayments.
  • If you do not have health insurance, you will still get services.
  • Your visit remains confidential.

The Health Department Chest Centers provide free evaluation and treatment for tuberculosis (TB). You must contact a center to schedule an appointment if you would like to be seen.

TB services at Chest Centers are always free and you will not be asked about immigration status.

Clinic services provided by Chest Centers include:

  • TB Testing by skin test or QFT Blood Test
  • Chest X-ray
  • Medical Evaluation for TB
  • Treatment for active TB disease
  • Treatment for TB infection
  • Sputum Induction
  • Social Services Referral
  • HIV Counseling and Testing
  • Directly Observed Therapy (in-person/video conference)

You can be tested if you have risk factors for developing TB. Chest Centers do not offer TB testing for administrative or school purposes.
