A local Case Management Agency can enroll an adult age 60 and older in a meal delivery program. If the senior is unable to attend a group meal program or prepare their own meals, nutritionally balanced meals will be delivered to their home.
In order to receive home delivered meals, a senior must be evaluated by a case manager at a participating agency.
Older adults who receive home care eight or more hours a day are generally not eligible for home delivered meals, as the attendant is expected to prepare meals for the senior. Exceptions are made when a senior has no cooking facilities, cannot afford to purchase food, or requires a kosher meal that the attendant cannot prepare.
