If unintended pregnancy is a concern, EC, or Emergency Contraception, is a safe way to prevent pregnancy after a condom has broken or if you had unprotected sex.

Emergency Contraception can reduce your risk of pregnancy up to five days after unprotected sex. The faster you use it after sex the more likely it is to prevent pregnancy.

If you are 15 or older you can buy Emergency Contraception at a pharmacy without a prescription. The cost ranges from $40 to $50.

Free Emergency Contraception pills are available at any of the Health Department's STD Clinics. It can be obtained without parental consent. No appointment is needed.
